EnergyVision Annual Report 2020
T H I S I S H OW G OO D 2 0 2 0 WA S THIS IS HOW GOOD 2020 WAS IN BELGIUM: B2B We added more than twenty people to our Belgian teams in the midst of the coronavirus crisis. We built 95 solar panel projects for businesses and the government. And we built two of the five greenest football stadiums in the Benelux region: we installed thousands of solar panels on the roofs of the RSC Anderlecht and RWD Molenbeek football clubs. BRUSSELS HAS THE GREENEST FOOTBALL STADIUMS IN THE PRO LEAGUE In autumn 2020, we installed approximately 3,500 solar panels on the roofs of Lotto Park in Anderlecht and the Edmond Machtens stadium in Molenbeek under the Brusol formula. That means that match days for the Brussels-based football clubs RSCA and RWDM will be energy-neutral from 2021 onwards. “RSC Anderlecht is shifting up two ecological gears at once”, was the proud reaction of the club’s CEO, Jos ANOTHER 4,000 SOLAR PANELS ON GOVERNMENT BUI LDINGS As a result of the coronavirus measures taken by Sibelga, the Solarclick projects were temporarily put on hold, but ultimately we did get down to some intense construction work in 2020 as well. More than 4,000 solar panels were installed on 17 buildings, ranging from Sibelga headquarters to a swimming pool in Laken. At Sibelga’s request, EnergyVision also took over another party’s projects in 2020. And – again at Sibelga’s request – the Solarclick project, which was scheduled to end in December 2020, was extended by one year. So we will be fitting solar panels on public buildings in the Brussels Capital Region in 2021 as well. “RSC Anderlecht is shifting up two ecological gears at once” “We will be fitting solar panels on public buildings in the Brussels Capital Region in 2021 as well.” SHOPPING WITH GREEN ELECTRICITY Anyone who shops at Shopping Birmingham from now on will be shopping with green electricity. There are more than 2,000 solar panels on the roofs of buildings in Birminghamstraat in Anderlecht, supplying 20 shops, gyms and event venues with green electricity. Every year, this site produces more than 600,000 kWh – making it one of the greenest shopping centres in the Brussels Capital Region. Donvil. RSCA now has enough solar panels altogether to cover a whole football pitch (about 7,000 square metres). At the end of 2020, RSCA was entirely right in asserting that its Lotto Park is the greenest football stadium in all of Belgium. Likewise for RWDM, approximately 2,500 square metres of solar panels were installed on the Raymond Goethals stand. “A magnificent project!” was their reaction. We operate the installations at both football clubs. The electricity that the clubs do not consume themselves is made available to the supporters: die-hard fans can get energy in their homes that is generated at their favourite club’s stadium. 12 13 E N E R G Y V I S I O N - A N N U A L R E P O R T 2 0 2 0
