EnergyVision Annual Report 2020
T H I S I S H OW G OO D 2 0 2 0 WA S THIS IS HOW GOOD 2020 WAS IN MOROCCO Morocco had the longest lockdown in the world. There were strict, non-stop measures, a curfew and severe restrictions all year long. It was impossible to build projects for several months. Despite the difficul- ties, Morocco experienced a serious increase in revenue and growth in the number of projects: from 318 projects in 2019 to 1,417 projects in 2020, ranging from solar panels to solar-po- wered irrigation to lighting projects. In terms of solar panels, Morocco’s figures doubled from less than 9 to more than 18 MWp of annual capaci- ty installed. SOLAR PANELS ON THE NATIONAL FISH FARMING CENTRE: THE WATER STAYS BLUE BUT THE ENERGY HAS GONE GREEN New energy projects in private companies were seriously delayed by the strict measures in 2020. Nevertheless, EnergyVision Morocco managed to achieve no less than 18 MWp in solar panel sales and installations, largely due to public tenders that we had subscribed to in 2019 and early 2020. For example, one of the projects EnergyVision Morocco installed consisted of 200 kWp at the National Fish Farming Centre, which is just a stone’s throw from the Moroccan city of Beni Mellal. Here our Moroccan teams built an all-round energy project in which solar panels installed on the ground were combined with irrigation pumps for the various fish ponds. With a view to securing the site, an extra lighting plan was drawn up. At the customer’s request, we came up with an off-grid solution: an installation that worked independently of the electricity grid. The LED lighting installed works on the basis of small solar panels and batteries that enable them to work autonomously 24/7. All the customer’s worries have been taken away at their site near Beni Mellal; in 2021 we will be tackling their other sites. 18 19 E N E R G Y V I S I O N - A N N U A L R E P O R T 2 0 2 0 A NEW OFFICE IN MOROCCO AS WELL In all three countries, 2020 was a year of expansion. Not just in terms of the number of projects, but also of literal expansion in square metres. Just like their colleagues in Belgium and China, the EnergyVision Morocco team moved into new offices. Their headquarters in Khouribga (with offices and a warehouse) will be retained, but we doubled our warehouse area in Casablanca in 2020 to 1,200m² and we moved to new offices with a showroom in the city centre. EnergyVision is more visible than ever in Casablanca.
