Minister Diependaele kicks off ASTER project
ASTER tender has now really started. Flemish Minister Matthias Diependaele, responsible for Budget, Finance and Housing, today inaugurated the first solar panels of the ASTER tender. With ASTER, EnergyVision will install solar panels on more than 50,000 social housing units in Flanders over the next three years, as well as on many hectares of land. "From Flanders, we fully support this project. The figures are impressive and this will lead to a great social gain for an increasingly serious problem," Diependaele said.
EnergyVision will install some 160 MWp of solar panels on social housing, and in total up to 400 MWp will be installed on roofs and grounds of social housing companies. That gives a maximum investment amount of EUR 400 million, of which EUR 150 million has already been allocated now. "We have already now increased our capacity from 50 sites per week to more than 250 sites per week and can scale up even further from March," says Maarten Michielssens (CEO of EnergyVision). "In parallel, the panels on land are just coming on top, capacity is also provided for that. Over the past three months, we have recruited and trained more than 60 people and more than 50 more recruitments are planned. More than 100 more people are active on the ASTER project through subcontractors."
